Mendoza – Wine, of course.

Mendoza isn’t really a whole lotta different then most of the rest of urban Argentina. It’s friendly enough, with some good eateries and a good ratio of density to diversity of shops (vs Buenos Aires which had vast numbers of shops, but they were all variations of the same thing). The coffee was a little better, and the food a little more adventurous. Really, the only drastic difference in Mendoza was that they took the siesta extremely seriously, and the whole town was completely locked down and silent from 1 to 6.

The reason to go to Mendoza has little to do with the town itself and everything to do with it’s massive fringing of vineyards and wineries. Thanks to some very appreciated wedding gift infusion, we were lucky enough to take a fantastic all day tour of select Cuyo valley wine producers. As it turned out, we were the only people booked for the tour that day, so we were privately shuttled to 4 different wineries to sample over 20 excellent wines, ending with an incredible 5 course meal complete with wine pairings. We’ll let the pictures do most of the work here.

Bon Apetit and Salud.
